This takes me back to pirate stories and movies. The X on a treasure map indicated the location of the treasure, sometimes there would even be an X in the physical location of the treasure. What does this mean for us as students in philosophy class? Are we going to go on a treasure hunt for a field trip? That would be pretty cool.
But I take it as setting our individual goals and achieving them, as a metaphor of making it to the treasure. The route to our goals is set by the options we have and would be changed by the choices we make. Good thing that the treasure is different and means something else to everyone if not we would have people going after each other’s treasure. So what should our goals be??? Good question. Should be trying to work for peace and togetherness like Dr. Martin Luther King did? Or should be like Jacky and do work hard to get a Lamborghini???
We are witnesses of the great deal of effect Dr. King’s actions had on the world and how his goals are what lead to those great choices he made. His leadership was also a good role model for future generations and future leaders. He showed us how a person can make a difference and no matter what our goals are or where are X is we can find it.
