Good Food Review

In our era were people seem to have less and less time each day to stop and eat it seems that the popularity of fast food grows each day. But is this food good? Not really sometimes it might taste good but most of the time it tastes like what it is, cheap food made quickly. That is not very healthy for you btw. So what to do in a society with growing fast food chains? Well in this project I went to eat at Ayala's Cocina which is a Mexican restaurant. The food was good even though at first I expected to be pretty crappy because of the environment. The restaurant was fun with live music and people dancing and in places like the quality of the food seems to go down, well in my experiences. But when I got my drink which was horchata it was good, and trust me I'm picky about my horchata. The food got to us in decent amount of time. I ordered two tacos of steak meat that came with the works, chopped onions and some cilantro. I also had a side of rice of beans with the two tacos. I thought the beans were pretty good but the rice was not that great. I kind of thought it tasted like plastic, and i hope it wasn't for my healths sake. The tacos were really great. The meat was seasoned and cooked right and with some salsa they tasted even better. The tortilla of the tacos was pretty good too not hand made though, which is what I was expecting but it tasted so good so all in all my food delicious.

King Still King?

Martin Luther King Jr. was a great civil rights leader but it seems that the idea of him being great has been fading throughout time. In elementary school I always learned that it was Martin Luther King Jr. that lead or started the civil movement. The other one was Malcolm X who was seen as a complete opposite of Dr. King. Dr. King was more of a peaceful man that always tried to avoid violence in all his protests. In the other hand Malcolm X was more like if you hit me I will hit you back and you can count on that. Both men had success in the civil rights movement but why is that only Martin Luther King Jr. gets a day? and is his day still mean the same to everyone?
Well to me I never even knew what to do on MLK's birthday. I guess in elementary school we would read about him or at least mention that it was his birthday sometimes for extra credit points. But now? I didn't even know it was his birthday until about a week that it passed. What does that say? That his name that was thought to be remembered in the minds of the people forever is vanishing? Maybe. Well then I would ask why isn't given any importance? Yes i got day off of school but i didn't even know why i had that day off. I guess he was the King because of what he did in his time and what he did for this nation we live in. But now it seems that anyone can go up and face the establishment and fight it so it seems that the King is being dethroned by all of us.

I am a Shoe

I don't really know what this blog is supposed to be about but that has not stopped me from writing before so why stop now. If I were a shoe I guess I would not want to be a sports shoe. Why??? I am pretty sure that they would have a terrible smell but sometimes athletes shoes are some of the most expensive. Maybe I should go a bit more in depth with this topic. Whose shoe would I like to be? If you guessed an athlete you were wrong. I would like to be Steve Jobs' shoe. It should be a good shoe especially since all of his clothes, even if the look like rags, are costumed made. I would like to know what it is to live his life what he actually does on a day to day basis and not some documentary about his life, I want the real experience. His ideas are great and I would like to know how he keeps with the improvements with all his technicians working all the time to make the coolest latest technology. Does he actually still like working with computers after all this time and why? Being able to see secret projects that apple is working on would be awesome. I would also like to see all the cool technological stuff he has in his home, would it be something with a computerized system? That would be cool like in the movie iron man. Being Steve Jobs' shoes would be something cool...oh wait just realized the topic was a shoe not shoes maybe it should of been about a missing shoe all alone from the other oh well.

Globalization

Technology has really been the reason globalization exists. The idea of someone that lived a hundred years ago coming back to life to see how we communicate with people would be pretty cool to see. It so easy for anyone to communicate to someone else from the United States across the ocean to Great Britain and beyond that in the rest of Europe like Spain, France, Russia etc. How has all this been possible and has it been beneficial? For starters technology has been a great help. The idea of getting messages across long distances was a real obstacle in the past but now you can make a phone call to almost anywhere in the world, send an e-mail, or even face chat with a simple creation of the web cam. What i think drove this idea of easy communication was the industrial era, where United States was growing as an industrial nation. The products it was producing needed to be sold else where since the products were not being developed any where else yet and many people in the states already had these items or could not afford them themselves. Besides trading with other countries is an essential part of our economy, like it used to be though. Like we all know time is money so the time it would take to communicate with foreign buyers was costing producers money and we all know those people don't like to lose money. Which caused great demand for newer communication methods, which would lead to globalization. It's been good though because now I can pick up the phone and call my grandma that lives in Mexico.

Sports in My Life

I consider myself to be an active person. Sports obviously play a big role in that. I love to watch sports as well as playing them. My favorite sports to play and watch are basketball, football and soccer. I like also like playing volleyball during the summer with friends that have a net to play with. My favorite sport would have to be basketball. I love to play basketball and could play it for hours throughout any day and still have fun playing. I see it as a game of chess. Trying to stay one step ahead of the enemy and making sure it is difficult for them to score any points. Working with other people is a good aspect of the game that i enjoy as well. It allows me to learn new ways to play the game and how others play the game picking up skills from all types of people. As much as I enjoy playing basketball for fun it's also a good way to get stress out from the troubles of life. Football is just great to play because I just love to run and seem to be good at it since people sometimes have trouble catching up to me.
I play a lot of soccer as well since my friends prefer to play soccer and well its fun. We play where ever we have a ball and some room. It could be in the sidewalk, the alley, a park, a parking lot or sometimes inside the house as long as we move things so nothing gets broken.

Thankful for a Classmate

So many classmates to choose from...well it have to be CHAAAAAAAANCHOOOOOOO. Alex Campos is a good friend that is always there for you when you need him. He has good advice to give his friends and is always willing to listen and help in what ever way he can. He always remind me to the homework even though at times I still forget to do it. He doesn't mind much anymore that I call him Chancho, which is his nickname. Besides we always have fun in class when working in a group. Then we have guitar class which is great because we also get to jam together and have more fun. We had a fun lunch the week of Thanksgiving. Our friends brought food and we all sat together and had a little feast of our own to celebrate Thanksgiving. Chancho brought a good chicken salad that even though he said it was prepared to its best, it was still good. I'm thankful that I got to meet him before graduation because the kid is a lot fun to hang out with and talk to. We still have to play soccer together but it will happen eventually. I'm thankful for Campos because if he didn't have fourth period lunch i might be bored all the time since we eat together with our friends but with him their is always a smile.

Defend the Poet/ Dinosauria, We

This poem contained strong lyrics. It gives me a sense that being born into this world is the worst thing that could of happened to me. From the start we are already faced with problems that we have had no influence in. We will have to deal with the debt of the government we have been born into and they don't care because they will die and it won't be their problem anymore. The line about the supermarket bag boy with the college degree really spoke to me especially in this time. Now that unemployment is reaching higher percentages every day the college graduates can't get a job with their diploma and have to take any type of job to survive and live and pay off the debt they have from college. This is important to me since i will soon be going to college and will be worried if I can't find a job after to pay my debt the way things are going. It seems that no matter if our parents try to raise us in the good way the world around us will take care of that and cause us to be influenced by the evil and pretty much become evil ourselves. We will all be turned into crooks and sometimes it seems that its the easiest way to live. For those that don't want to work hard the way to live becomes stealing for survival. Then the rich always being the ones to survive just because they are rich. Well if you think about they became rich by exploiting the work of innocent people trying to earn a living wage and exploiting the natural resources that didn't matter if they would run out or hurt the earth because combined they probably have enough money to make a new earth to live on. But no matter what their money will not be able to save them forever and pretty soon they will face the facts of reality and will suffer like the rest of us. This poem talks about problems facing our society now which is pretty weird and inspiring in a way since it was written like sixty years ago.

Open Letter to C. McCarthy

The Road a novel written by the author known as Cormac McCarthy. The novel started of shaky and kind of boring. But soon flipping through a couple of pages there were dramatic twists that got the reader hooked and wouldn't let me put the book down. The lack of chapters and proper grammatical notation, like quotes, made it a bit confusing and didn't help when I tried to go back and look for information that I had read. This was a big problem in class when trying to answer questions that I knew the answer to but needed quotes to support my work. Then there were times when I was reading the book and thought one character was talking to find out that it was actually a different character talking or it was actually  a character talking not the narrator. I would like to know what inspired you to create a novel like this. Also what was the apocalyptic event that occurred before the story starts taking place just to know. I mean the whole book I was waiting to know what happened to the world that could have destroyed every living thing except humans. It still bugs me that I don't know and if you want to leave it to the readers imagination then why did you even write the book probably could of imagined the story on my own. However the love you showed between the father and son was very deep and it helped show that even when life is at its worst and everything around you may be evil there will probably be someone that will be caring for you with all their life. In conclusion what happened with the ending, does the son ever reach the place that he and his papa were going to with all their strength. Does were some of my issues with the book. But overall I enjoyed and thought it was good, well better than the movie.

How Do I Know What I Know?

The simple to answer to this question would be school, family(parents, siblings, aunts, uncles etc.), my own personal experiences. Knowledge is acquired through the means of the three stated options. However I feel like I prefer the knowledge gained from personal experiences is what is most beneficial to my life and greatly influences my knowledge.
In school you learn from books, maybe if you have a good teacher that tells you stories about their personal life that have been a learning experience it could be helpful. But mostly we learn from books and our friends in school. However books can teach us to a certain extent. Especially if the student doesn't like to read or has trouble understanding what they have read. It's kind of like the story of the parent telling their child to not touch the burning fire in the stove. If the child just reads about he might not comprehend that the fire is hot and will not obtain the lesson from the story. But if the child puts his hand next to the burning stove he will sense it's hot and might stop or will get burned but will learn a valuable lesson of not touching the fire ever again.
What if a friend would of told you that if you touch the fire it would burn you. If you trust your friend you might learn from him and not touch the fire but sometimes friends have learned from experiences themselves, or they might be obedient to their parents.
Family is another source of knowledge that I feel is beneficial. The experiences that my brothers have I feel like it is part of my own experience. What they learn from their mistakes I have also learned and hopefully will be wise enough to not make the same mistakes they did.

God in 2010

What has happened to God in our time??? I know from reading history books that in the past everyone had a strong belief of a God, no matter what the specific religion was. It was a traditional thing that was followed in the family and if you didn't believe in God you were looked down upon and as an evil person. People would seek advice and help from God when obstacles were present. It was like if God was the go to guy for any problem in that time.
In our time it seems that many people stop believing that a God exists. The tradition of family believing in God is pretty much shattered. As children grow up they leave and forget about family traditions and replace them with their own. Another idea is that with new technology people seem to be less likely to be dependent of God or look for help from God. Unless there is an extreme circumstance then people remember that there is a God and that he might be able to help.(if that's true idk)
Maybe it has to due with the fact that our lives are full of activities and work that there is no time for God. Also the idea of God maybe vanishing from our time being replaced by other beliefs that don't require the belief of a God. For example Buddhism is a philosophy that has become popular in our day and may replace the idea of God for the non believers.
In conclusion it seems that the idea of a God is slowly disappearing in this time but if it will completely disappear and become something our children will only read about in the future is yet to be determined.
